The members of the newly re-established San Diego County Leon Williams Human Relations Commission have been announced, after appointments to the commission were approved by the Board of Supervisors at their June 23 meeting.
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted a resolution to re-establish the county's Leon Williams Human Relations Commission at their Tuesday, May 26 meeting. The board was established to promote positive human relations, respect, and the integrity of every individual regardless of gender, religion, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, or citizenship status. Supervisor Nathan Fletcher authored the resolution to re-estabilish the commission.
Appointments to the commission have been set-up to reflect a diverse sub-section of the county, and include appointments from some community organizations that represent diverse populations, by each county supervisor, and the Sherrif and District Attorney or their designees.
Members of the LGBTQ community who have been appointed include Cara Dessert, Nicole Murray-Ramirez, and Gina Roberts.
