The event will discuss the impacts of COVID-19 on the LGBTQ community.
A group of LGBTQ elected officials will host a National Town Hall on Thursday, April 30 at 3 pm to discuss the impacts of COVID-19 on the LGBTQ community. The panel, which will be presented via Zoom, is being organized by the office of California State Senator Scott Wiener.
Along with Wiener, panelists include Colorado Governor Jared Polis, New York State Senator Brad Hoylman, California State Representative Susan Eggman, and Pennsylvania State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta.
"The LGBTQ community is being significanlty impacted by COVID-19, both our health and our ability to earn a living," said Wiener. “Our community is resilient, and we’ve faced and survived a plague. But we need more government support — including data collection and focused resources — to ensure that LGBTQ people make it through this pandemic and that we aren’t invisible. Very few governments are currently focusing on the pandemic’s unique impacts on LGBTQ people, and that needs to change.”
