Recent release of Mayor Faulconer’s Proposed FY 2021 Budget has brought to light significant challenges for City of San Diego.
City of San Diego Councilmember Chris Ward and Independent Budget Analyst Andrea Tevlin will host a virtual town hall meeting this Friday, May 1 to discuss the city's proposed FY2021 Budget. Below, see Councilmember Ward's note to the community which includes additional information about the event and how to participate.
The recent release of Mayor Faulconer’s Proposed FY 2021 Budget has brought to light significant challenges for our city. The recent loss of tax revenue and the emergency life-saving action to fight the spread of COVID-19 have both made an impact.
I remain committed to maintaining constituent needs, public safety and neighborhood services and will advocate for our neighborhoods during this budget process. However, due to the hardships we all face, I will need your help. Working and advocating together will ensure District 3 neighborhoods have the resources they need.
On Friday, May 1st at 1:00 PM, I will livestream a Virtual Town Hall on my Facebook page Independent Budget Analyst Andrea Tevlin to give residents a comprehensive overview of the proposed budget.
San Diego has faced challenging budgets before. We have met those challenges with realism, but when proposed cuts seemed drastic or unwise, San Diegans got to work, organized, and ensured their communities were not left behind. I know we can do the same in the face of this unprecedented crisis, and achieve the balanced budget that serves our City as well as possible.
