Nomi d'shire might be a little exhausted already in 2019, but she wouldn't have it any other way. The drag queen just moved back to San Diego and already she's earned the title Miss Gay Pride 2019.

"This achievement was an eye-opening experience," she told San Diego Gay and Lesbian News. "Showing the heart of Hillcrest; our local entertainers, restaurants, bars, and businesses coming together to help me raise funds for my 2019 campaign."

The plan was to raise a lot of money in a single month for charity and boy did she ever.

Her lip-sync event Kamikaze Battle, which saw drag performers going in blind to music was hosted by Uptown Tavern. She ultimately brought in over $2,300 which goes to Imperial Court De San Diego (ICSD) and its charities.

As Miss San Diego 2019, d'shire has a busy year ahead, she must produce two fundraisers benefiting ICSD programs and participate in San Diego Pride and Imperial Court related events.

But her goals seem steered toward the stars, "My reign will see much more!" she proclaims.

Her crown makes her an ambassador for 2019’s Pride celebration and a representative of the ICSD. These are not responsibilities she is taking lightly.

"I relish in the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our LGBTQ+ communities across the U.S. and abroad at this year’s Pride," she said.

And as for the future, she's hitting the ground running ultimately hoping to help eradicate the stigma associated with HIV and to fill a void in San Diego's public library system.

"I plan to focus the next year to help raise funds for the vast array of programs our area has to offer, to use my platform as a stepping stone for many silenced voices in our area, and many of my own personal goals including; assisting The Mission Hill Library’s long-awaited Drag Queen Story Hour and work on a new HIV Stigma Campaign to bring better awareness of the changes in the virus, medications, and transmission."

Ryan Tyrell White-King is d'shire's counterpart this year, he was elected Mr.Gay Pride 2019.
