The incident happened in Mission Valley.
In an apparent drug deal that went wrong, a 28-year-old man was shot in the groin over the weekend reports NBC 7.
The incident happened on Sunday on the sidewalk of the 2600 block of Camino del Rio North, near Dave & Buster's in Mission Valley.
They say the man was on parole and attempting to buy drugs from another man who was with a female. An argument ensued and the couple ran, turning back and firing a single shot toward the victim which hit him in the groin and exited through the buttocks.
The victim was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital for surgery as a result of the shooting which police say are non-life-threatening.
Police have not released a description of the person who fired the gun.
Area Detectives are investigating the crime.
