In what Arizona police are calling a "horrific" crime, Zakaria Fry (top left), a trans woman, and her 78-year-old roommate Eugene Carrell Ray (left center) were found brutally murdered in a remote part of Santa Fe County, New Mexico on February 19.

Zakaria Fry, 28, also went by the nickname “Z.”

The victims had been missing since mid-January reports KOAT

Fry was found by a rancher, her 28-year-old body was crammed into a trash container, while Ray’s was discovered in a trunk not far away.

The Office of Medical Investigator (OMI) reports that both victims suffered multiple skull and facial fractures. Fry’s cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and face.

There is still no official cause of death for Ray, but both of his hands were removed, and he had a cut below his right knee.

James Knight, AKA Charles Spiess (pictured lower left), 32, was arrested and booked at the Metropolitan Detention Center. He faces two counts of open murder and tampering with evidence.

Police were able to trace Ray’s stolen credit card to Knight who was also seen driving his silver Mustang.

The suspect was arrested at the Sandia Casino.

Police are looking for the public’s help in connecting the relationship between Fry, Ray, and Knight asking anyone with information about them to call 505-843-7867.
