Outspoken actress Stacey Dash has filed paperwork to run for a congressional seat in Southern California’s 44th District.

The Clueless star will run as a Republican in a position currently held by Democrat Nanette Barragan. Republicans are the longshot in this district of Los Angeles in which liberal voters outweigh conservatives by a large margin.

If elected Dash would oversee areas of Compton, Watts, San Pedro and North Long Beach.

The coastal part of Long Beach has a thriving LGBT community with numerous bars and historic nightclubs,  such as The Silver Fox which was recently substituted for San Diego’s Flicks in the crime drama  The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story

But Dash has been criticized for not being LGBT friendly, especially toward the transgender community.

In June 2016 while being interviewed on Entertainment Tonight about bathroom bills, she shocked people when she suggested trans folks not use public restrooms at all.

“OK, then go [to the bathroom] in the bushes,” she said. “I don’t know what to tell you, but I’m not gonna put my child’s life at risk because you want to change a law. So that you can be comfortable with your beliefs — which means I have to change my beliefs and my rights? No.”

Dash’s representatives have yet to comment on her running for the seat, but the star did hint she would be running on social media earlier this month.
