The well-known DC steakhouse is under fire for LGBT discrimination.
Going to a restaurant while gay seems to be the newest place for homophobes to express their opinions and this latest example only adds to the list of servers and such finding a way to limit our affections.
Ron Gage and Henry McKinnon say they were having a date night at a well-known Prime Rib restaurant in Washington DC, but when it came time for dessert what should have been sweet quickly turned sour.
They say their server refused to let them share one ice cream sundae.
“When it came time for dessert, we asked for one sundae with two spoons,” they told The Washington Post, but the server said no.
The reasoning for the refusal says Gage was apparently aesthetic, he says their server told them it “wouldn’t look right with two gentlemen eating out of the same sundae. It doesn’t go with the ambiance of the restaurant.”
Dumbstruck, the couple sat in disbelief at the proclamation.
“It was so humiliating… It was unbelievable how it made us feel,” Wrote McKinnon on Facebook.
The restaurant’s manager, James MacLeod said the server’s first language is not English and maybe that was the reason behind the waiter's thinking.
“The waiter in question is Bulgarian, and he does speak four different languages,” he said. “I am not sure if he got confused as to what he was saying, or how he was saying it.”
Since the incident went public many have taken to Yelp to boycott the restaurant reports Pink News.
“Me and my family will never eat here again. A homophobic restaurant in Washington, D.C., in 2017. SMH.”
“Never again will I set foot here.” and a third wrote: “Shame! Shame! Shame!”
As for why the couple didn't immediately respond to the insult?
“I’m kind of embarrassed to say we didn’t say anything,” McKinnon said. “It just took us back to such a shameful place, in a way.”
