An intersection in Tucson Arizona is filled with Pride with four rainbow crosswalks on Fourth Avenue, or at least it was until what appears to be vandals threw a cup of white paint over one of them on Monday or early Tuesday morning.

A dedication ceremony was scheduled for Tuesday in celebration of pride in the city reports ABC 10 News.

The intersection was chosen because it is one of the busiest in Tucson and organizers wanted to help promote diversity.

The crosswalk project was several years in the making. Meetings with the City of Tucson, the Southern Arizona Aids Foundation, and Fourth Avenue led to its concept and design.

The paint used to create the rainbow crossings is said to last at least three years.

The dedication ceremony still went on despite the incident.
