A man on a motorized bicycle was struck by an oncoming car Monday.

It happened during rush hour on westbound University Avenue near Park Boulevard, reports ABC 10.

The 24-year-old cyclist turned into oncoming traffic and was struck by a Prius, police say.

Medical crews transported the unidentified man to Scripps Mercy while the driver of the vehicle cooperated with police.

The accident caused the closure of University Ave. in both directions between Herbert Street and Centre Street while investigators assessed the scene.
