The comedienne is amid controversy for holding up a mock decapitation of Donald Trump in photos on Wednesday.
In what is probably not going to be a good year for Kathy Griffin, it was announced today that the comedian has been fired from her job at CNN.
The red-haired reality star and stand-up comic created a firestorm of backlash yesterday after photos were released of her holding up a bloodied prop of Donald Trump’s head.
The consequences of this action were severe. First the US Secret Service became aware of the photos and tweeted that they would investigate it as a threat.
Then word came from “Squatty Potty” who employeed her for one commercial, that they had pulled the ads and would no longer be affiliated with Griffin.
This all prompted the star to issue an apology and say she was pulling the pictures and a behind-the-scenes video of the photo shoot.
“I went too far...I crossed a line...I ask for your forgiveness,” she implored.
But it seems her pleas fell upon deaf ears in the offices of CNN executives who fired her today.
Griffin had been ringing in the New Year with Anderson Cooper since 2007.
Cooper was also not happy with his former co-host saying, “For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate."
