The Hillcrest Business Association (HBA) would like to extend its East Hillcrest Maintenance Assessment District (EMAD) to include businesses to its west end.

This expansion and The Clean and Safe program will be discussed in an upcoming public meeting to be held on April, 11.

The HBA says it is critical that Hillcrest business owners, property owners and tenants attend this meeting.

“This expanded district would levy a special assessment on property owners on the east end of Hillcrest to pay for enhanced security, cleaning (including steam cleaning) and gardening services, much like what occurs on the west end of the neighborhood,” HBA wrote in a press release on Tuesday.

The HBA says the eastern part of the district has suffered from “trash, sidewalk gum, dead trees and homelessness,” and they need similar tools used in other neighborhoods to combat the problem.

“Hillcrest cannot continue to grow unless we address these cleaning and safety challenges,” the HBA statement added.

The public meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 5 pm at the Joyce Beers Community Center located at  3900 Vermont Street San Diego, CA. 92103.
