A witness says Ciara McElveen was left to die in the dirt.
Louisiana has yet another trans murder case on its hands.
Transgender woman Ciara McElveen, 21, was stabbed to death on Monday.
This is the state's third trans homicide, two having been carried out in the Creole State in the past three days.
The latest happened near the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Columbus Street at approximately 9 am Monday morning. She died at the hospital.
Police reports say McElveen (top left) was dragged out of a vehicle by the driver after having been stabbed and left in the dirt. They found her face down in the gravel with multiple stab wounds.
Initially police were unable to identify the gender of the victim, but a witness was able to clarify that she was trans.
On Friday, entertainer Chyna Dupree (lower left) was shot an estimated ten times in New Orleans, and on February 19, Jaquarrius Holland (middle left) was killed during a verbal altercation, but due to misgendering that crime has only recently come to light.
For now police say they have no reason to believe the crimes are related.
In the McElveen case a witness close to the victim came forward saying they saw a man get out of a black vehicle, retrieve something from the trunk, then walked to the passenger side of the vehicle. He then flung the victim to the ground. He got back into the car and sped away.
"Dude came around to the passenger side and I see a knife in his hand. I'm thinking he's about to stab (the victim) but, apparently, he already stabbed (the victim) in the car," said the witness who asked to remain anonymous. "Then he pulled (the victim) out by (the victim's) head and slammed (the victim's) face to the ground. Then he pulled off."
Louisiana has been in the news recently about crimes against trans women.
Last month San Diego Gay and Lesbian News wrote about a team of thugs who recorded themselves driving around Louisiana streets at night, threatening and abusing trans women on the streets.
