The Fifth Avenue restaurant has been a part of the Hillcrest landscape for three years.
The homemade sausage company, served a wide variety of casing-wrapped minced meats including duck, ribeye, and bacon.
The eatery made sausage the traditional way, but challenged, “people’s thoughts about the everyday sausage, and showcasing how versatile this food can be.”
The owners told The Eater:
"It’s definitely a sad day for the Salt & Cleaver family. The neighbourhood and people of Hillcrest are truly amazing and we've had an incredible four years calling it home.
"Unfortunately, as of late we've observed what is hopefully just a temporary slump in the Hillcrest economy — perhaps it's a lack of new developments.
"We want to say a big thank you to everyone who has ever set foot in our establishment and a very special thank you to all of the staff members who made our place of work a family setting."
