Police say the incident occurred on Fifth Avenue.
The San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting this morning that a pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Hillcrest.
It happened about 10:45 pm Tuesday night on Fifth Avenue near Pennsylvania Avenue reports the San Diego Police Department.
The unidentified victim died at the scene.
Police say they are looking for a silver or gray Nissan Cube with damage to the front.
Officer Dino Delimitros said they found a vehicle with a smashed windshield matching the description on Ohio Street near Monroe Avenue at 10:55 pm.
According to the Union-Tribune, It is unclear if that vehicle was the one involved with crime, or if police already have someone in custody.
Update: Robert Anthony Dean, 60, was taken into custody on suspicion of felony hit and run and misdemeanor DUI.
