This is the first wedding the vice president has performed, and he couldn't be more happy for the couple.
As the current administration prepares to leave the White House, there are still a few firsts to be had.
One of them happened on Monday, August 1, when Vice President Joe Biden officiated his very first wedding, which happened to be between two men.
Brian Mosteller, special assistant to President Obama, and Joe Mahshie, trip coordinator for the First Lady asked Vice President Biden to perform the ceremony.
“Proud to marry Brian and Joe at my house,” tweeted Biden, “Couldn’t be happier, two longtime White House staffers, two great guys.”
Biden received a temporary certification from the District of Columbia to marry the two gentleman whose families were in attendance at his Washington, DC home.
The vice president’s wife tweeted, “Love is Love” just after the ceremony.
