At around 2 am, a gunman opened fire inside the gay night club called Pulse in Orlando
The assailant is reportedly still inside the building and is feared to be wearing a bomb. The bomb squad has showed up on the scene.
Partygoers were attending the bar’s Latin night, where more than 100 people were present.
At about 2 am (EST) witnesses say they heard shots ring out. One witness says that the shots seemed to be fast and repetitive, not like a regular handgun.
The club’s Facebook page told people, “Everybody get out of Pulse and keep running.”
Ricardo Almodovar was at the scene and posted on Facebook:
"People on the dance floor and bar got down on the floor and some of us who were near the bar and back exit managed to go out through the outdoor area and just ran.”
Local news reporter Stewart Moore tweeted that more than 20 people had been shot.
Police are saying that there are multiple injuries and people should stay away from the area.
Pulse is located at 1912 S Orange Ave Orlando, FL.
UPDATE: Local reporter Stewart Moore is reporting on Twitter that the shooter is dead, but the scene is still active.
