Facebook friends and family share their memories and condolences about Brian Woodward
Former San Diego resident and U.S. Army veteran Brian L. Woodward passed away on Wednesday, March 31. Brian was well-known around the local community. The young man lost his fight against a severe lung infection.
The news of his passing was delivered by his father on Facebook :
"It is with a heavy heart that I post this tonight. A short time ago our son, Brian Woodward, lost his battle with pneumonia. At 7:23 this evening Brian, surrounded by friends and family, left this world to be with his Heavenly Father. He is no longer in pain, he is no longer tired, he is no longer searching for what this world can provided. He is finally at peace. We love you Brian more than words can say. God Speed!!!"
Since then people who were touched by Brian have been expressing their grief, memories and special stories on his Facebook page which his mother Georgia Owenby Baker has taken over.
In addition, a special Facebook page titled "Remembering Brian Woodward" has also been set up so people have a place to share their thoughts and grieve with others.
His obituary was posted online at Covington Crematory:
"Brian L. Woodward, 36 of Covington, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Rockdale Medical Center. Brian was born in Decatur, GA to Georgia Baker and Barry Woodward. He proudly served his country in the US Army. Brian was a loving son, brother, grandson and uncle.
He is survived by his mother and step-father Georgia and Rick Baker of Social Circle, father and step-mother Barry and Trish Woodward of Covington, paternal grandfather Jim Woodward of Jackson, brothers Jimmy (Brooke) Woodward, Eric Woodward, Evan (Nicole) Woodward, Tery Baker and Clint Baker, sisters April (Jason) Johnston and Dale Martin, along with several nieces and nephews.
