SAN DIEGO -- Last year’s nasty race for San Diego City Council has moved from the polls to the courthouse.
Dwayne Crenshaw, who narrowly lost to Myrtle Cole, has filed a defamation lawsuit contending the she and her campaign committee distributed untrue mailers to voters alleging drug use.
Cole and adviser Larry Remer sent the brochures “knowing that there were false and/or with reckless disregard for the truth,” the lawsuit states.
The lawsuit filed in San Diego Superior Court Thursday seeks unspecified damages.
