When will San Diego mayoral runoff election be scheduled?

SAN DIEGO -- The runoff for San Diego mayor is set between City Council members David Alvarez and Kevin Faulconer, but questions remain about how much will it cost taxpayers and when will voters get to cast their ballots.

The latest projections have the combined cost of the Nov. 19 special election and subsequent runoff to replace former Mayor Bob Filner, who resigned amid a sexual harassment scandal, at between $8.65 million and $9.15 million.

The best guess at this point is that the election will be held Feb. 4 or Feb. 11, although the exact date depends on several factors, including final approval from the City Council.
