SDGLN Poll: Readers expect U.S. Supreme Court to hear Prop 8 case

A majority of readers of San Diego Gay & Lesbian News who took our poll predict that the U.S. Supreme Court will take up the Proposition 8 case known as Perry v. Brown.

Our poll question was: Will the U.S. Supreme Court take up the Proposition 8 case?

The results, which are not scientific, reveal that 61% of readers think that the U.S. Supreme Court will decide the case and 39% believe that the nation’s high court will decline to hear the case.

The Prop 8 case will be among many to be reviewed by the Supreme Court in October as the high court sets its docket for the next session. Should the high court take up the Prop 8 case, it would likely be heard in the spring of 2013. Should the high court decline to hear the case, then the decisions by the lower courts that Prop 8 is unconstitutional will stand, and gay and lesbian couples in California will be able to marry again.
