Today is International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV), held annually on March 31. The day was first observed in 2009, and this year, The White House took notice as President Joe Biden issued a proclamation honoring the day.

After months of planning and consideration, San Diego Pride recognizes that in 2021 there is still no certain path to safely produce Pride events at the same immense scale we did prior to the pandemic.

For the first time in 10 years, the City of San Diego is looking to increase wastewater rates, by 5%, starting in January 2022. In addition, the City’s Public Utilities Department (PUD), which provides water and sewer services to customers, is proposing to pass through regional water cost increases to its customers.  

John Hazen McConnell died peacefully in his sleep on December 30, 2020, with his beloved partner Kevin Hewitt at his side, according to a March 19, 2021 obituary in the San Diego Union-Tribune. McConnell was 70 years old.

Longtime San Diego LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS activist Susan Jester was inducted into the San Diego County Women's Hall of Fame on Sunday. Jester received the honor along with 6 other local women during a virtual ceremony marking the organization's 20th annual ceremony.
