SAN DIEGO -- Representatives from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) medical center spoke at the Hillcrest Business Association (HBA) board meeting on March 13 to update the HBA on the status of UCSD’s proposed changes in accessing its Hillcrest medical center. Changes include altering the direction of traffic on up to three city streets to allow better access to the hospital for emergency vehicles, patients and employees.
In the presentation, UCSD Health Sciences Government and Community Affairs Director Aaron Byzak and Manager Zachary Schlagel discussed the proposals as well as several issues raised about traffic circulation around the hospital, including access, safety and parking. The UCSD medical center is located at 200 W. Arbor Dr.
“There’s a long term commitment that we have to the area. We want to make sure we have the best traffic moving in and out of our hospital that we can,” Byzak said. “We need to make sure that we have access for businesses and residents.”
