SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Pride selected the first ten members of the inaugural San Diego LGBT Pride Community Advisory Council at the organization's board of directors meeting Wednesday night.
The organization first introduced the idea for such an advisory council in 2010, as one of many reforms promised by the board of directors that took over at that time.
An information session was held in January 2012, where Pride staff explained the purpose and application requirements for the advisory council. San Diego Pride's board of directors selected the first 10 members of the council, who will then select additional members.
Pride officials say they received an overwhelming number of applications from community members expressing interest in the positions, so applications of those who were not selected in the initial group will be forwarded to the new advisory council members to select from.
The San Diego LGBT Pride Community Advisory Council will provide a forum for input from the community and offer recommendations on matters of significant interest to San Diego LGBT Pride.
Community members who were selected by the organization's board of directors to serve on the San Diego LGBT Pride Community Advisory Council are:
Angela Van Ostman
Charles W. Patmon Jr.
