SAN DIEGO – The third annual Pugs ‘n Kisses fundraiser will be from 2 to 5 pm Saturday, Feb. 4, today in Hillcrest.
The event will be at Fido & Co., Canine Country Club, located at 1228 University Ave.
Pug Rescue of San Diego County, an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing unwanted, neglected, abandoned and relinquished Pugs, is the host.
The fundraiser kicks off at 2 o'clock and will feature a doggie-couture fashion show, Pug kissing booth, silent auction, raffles, and wine and cheese tasting. Tickets are $22 pre-registration; $25 at the door for pugs and their parents.
In 2011, volunteers from Pug Rescue took in over 150 pugs. The economic recession and home foreclosures have forced many owners to give up their dogs, turning to the Pug Rescue for help.
According to the organization, nine out of 10 Pugs who enter Pug Rescue of San Diego County need some sort of medical attention in one way or another. Relinquished Pugs live in foster care until their forever home is found. Funds raised will help the organization continue to provide medical intervention and comfort in foster care to the Pugs relinquished to Pug Rescue of San Diego County.
Guests interested in adopting a Pug from the organization are encouraged to fill out an application in advance. Volunteers are also needed.
