WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- Olympic figure skating star Johnny Weir has been named grand marshal of the L.A. Gay Pride Parade, which will roll out on June 12 along Santa Monica Boulevard.
The star of “Be Good Johnny Weir” on Logo is an advocate for gay rights.
"Johnny lives a life with a defined purpose, is dedicated to helping young people and is not afraid to be himself, sometimes not always an easy thing for a world-class athlete,” said Rodney Scott, board president of Christopher Street West, which sponsors the parade and festival.
Weir won three U.S. figure skating championships during his illustrious career. He has turned to TV, known for “Pop Star on Ice” and “Skating with the Stars” as a judge.
