Sewage contamination prompts warning from county
More beaches in South County have been temporarily closed because of sewage problems, the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health says.
The Imperial Beach and Silver Strand ocean shorelines are now included in the public warning due to sewage-contaminated runoff from the Tijuana Estuary.
Field measurements indicate northward moving ocean currents near the mouth of the Tijuana Estuary. Signs warning of sewage contaminated water will remain in place until field measurements indicate the ocean water is safe for recreational use.
