The lanes are open!
(SAN DIEGO) San Diego’s Steering Committee of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), has announced their annual Bowling for Equality fundraiser will take place on Saturday February 27, 2010 and will be held at Kearny Mesa Bowl. Sponsorships are now being accepted.
Last year, the bowling event attracted over 200 bowlers and HRC was able to raise over $5,000.
“It was one of our largest fundraising events of the year,” Brian Lacklen, HRC-SD Co-Chair said. “I think we even surprised ourselves. The LGBT community was ready for a fundraising event like Bowling for Equality. We sold twice as many tickets as anticipated, doubled our sponsorship goal, and everyone said they really had fun.”
HRC members have also began sending letters and speaking with leaders in the community regarding sponsorship opportunities. They expect to have all the sponsorship opportunities fill quickly and are encouraging business owners and leaders to review their 2009 budgets and get an early start.
Bowling for Equality offers sponsorships at three different levels of affordability. For $1,000, the coveted Title Sponsorship includes equal billing with HRC not just at the event but also in all media and advertising. At the cost of $265, Participating Sponsors receive five bowling tickets, a bowling lane branded with their name, and the option to include gifts and offers in gift bags given to all event participants. A Lane Sponsorship for $125 includes everything in the Participating Sponsorship, except the five free bowling tickets.
“Our sponsorship levels are extremely competitive and a smart investment for any business who wants to tap into the $1 billion spent by LGBT folks each year,” Lacklen said, “especially in San Diego where the community really notices when a business participates in community events. We are happy to make sponsorship affordable and we are committed that the businesses that support our efforts experience tangible benefits.”
