(SAN DIEGO) — This holiday season the Empowering Spirits Foundation (ESF), a national lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, is teaming up with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program to help provide for a better Christmas for the roughly 14 million children currently living in poverty in the United States.
“We know the current economic situation will make for a tough holiday season for many across the country,” said A. Latham Staples, President & C.E.O. of the ESF. “Toys for Tots provides hope to many of our nation’s neediest children, and we are proud to do our part to help out.”
ESF will match dollar for dollar each donation made through the ESF website at ESF Toy Drive Toys for Tots Program through Wednesday, December 23rd.
Over the 62 years of the Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million needy children.
