SAN DIEGO -- PrideFit, a new organization that seeks to improve the health and wellness of the LGBT community by organizing fun social events, has plans to bring back the Hillcrest Dodgeball Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 31 in Balboa Park.
The group invites community members to come together at 11 am to participate in the tournament, and encourages people to bring friends and form a team. Those who do not have a team will be randomly placed on one at check-in.
The San Diego Pride Ambassadors organized a similar tournament in November 2009 to raise money for the programs of San Diego Pride. Nearly 40 people participated in the fun tournament.
PrideFit board member Fernan Balsubre was one of the organizers of the 2009 tournament and said he is excited to be a part of bringing the event back to the community.
Entry fee into the tournament will be $4 and benefit PrideFit. Those who wish to participate should RSVP on Facebook by Aug. 26 and let the organizers know their T-shirt size.
Awards will be given out in the following categories: Most Spirited Player; Most Spirited Audience Member; Last One Standing; and Most Colorful Outfit.
