SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego LGBTQ Hike Club brings community members together each weekend to for hikes and walks on trails throughout the county. This Sunday, May 12 at 3:30 pm, the group will explore a "mystery trail" opposite of the Old Dam in Mission Trails.
Group organizer Alex Volzer is looking forward to hiking the trail, which he says looks like it will head out into the rolling hills of the area.
"Different and new people are coming every week, so this is totally not a clique and you won't feel isolated if you are new," Volzer writes. "There are always new people! This is not a hardcore hiking group, but we do set a reasonable pace based on the experience level of the group that day. We are currently exploring the varied terrain in Mission Trails Regional Park."
Volzer has asked for those interested in participating to RSVP so the group knows who to wait for. Directions and additional information will be provided on the event page.
The groups upcoming hiking schedule includes:
May 12: Grasslands Loop/Mystery Trail opposite of the Old Dam Parking Lot entrance (Easy/Leisurely to IDK). We are meeting at the Grasslands Loop Trail entrance, gate 9.
May 19: Grasslands Extension/Bike Trails (Moderate to Hard)
June 1: Paved Father Junipero Serra Trail with small detours at the River grinding rocks and the Old Dam (Easy/Leisurely). Wheelchair friendly.
June 8: South Fortuna (Moderate to Hard) and mid-hike picnic-party.
