SAN DIEGO – The San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, an organization that advocates for and protects the rights of all people who ride bicycles, said it will provide free valet bike parking at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course from Jan. 23-27.
The Bicycle Coalition provides these services to help relieve congestion and give fans an alternative to driving to San Diego’s premier professional golf event.
In return, Farmers Insurance will donate $10 to the Bicycle Coalition for each bike parked. Vehicle parking can cost anywhere from $10-$95 per day at the event site.
“Our partnership with Farmers Insurance is a perfect example of the positive impact bikes have on business in San Diego,” said Andy Hanshaw, executive director of the Bicycle Coalition.
“Whether it’s at the Farmers Insurance Open or our local business improvement district events, we’re here to support San Diego’s economy. We parked thousands of bikes at dozens of events in San Diego County last year and look forward to another big year in 2013.”
Torrey Pines Golf Course sits on North Torrey Pines Road/County Highway S21, which is one of the most accessible bicycling routes in San Diego County. For tips on how to get to the tournament easy and safe, take a look at the Bicycle Coalition blog on easy biking to the Farmers Insurance Open.
