UPDATED: How San Diego's three teams are faring at Gay Bowl XII in Denver

DENVER – The last-seeded San Diego Sharks are showing some teeth at Gay Bowl XII, the annual flag-football championship tournament, being played this weekend in Denver.

The Sharks won both their Pod F games played Friday, beating the Denver Summit 2 by the score of 26-24 and then knocking off the Phoenix Hellraisers Firestorm, 25-7. The Sharks were awarded the No. 30 seed in the tournament.

Then on Saturday morning, the Sharks swept Pod F play by beating the Michigan Panthers 27-20. With a 3-0 record in round robin, the Sharks will advance to a wildcard game later today.

The No. 1-seeded San Diego Bolts zapped New York Xtreme 36-6 in the first Pod A game on Friday, then were shocked by the LA Empire, 27-21 in the second game yesterday.

On Saturday morning, the Bolts took the wind out of the Houston Hurricanes, winning 32-12. The Bolts finished 2-1 in round robin.

The No. 3-seeded San Diego Toros also finished 1-1 on Friday, beating the Cleveland Rockers 35-25 in the first Pod C game and losing to the DC Admirals 18-13 in the second game.

Also Saturday morning, the Toros outscored the Boston Hancocks 36-20 to conclude with a 2-1 record in round robin.

All teams are competing for the highest seeding in the championship bracket.

The second round starts about 1 pm Denver time today, with the tournament championship on Sunday.
