SAN FRANCISCO -- The NFL's San Francisco 49ers on Thursday released an "It Gets Better" video to condemn bullying and to support LGBT youth.
Appearing in the video are Ricky Jean Francois and Isaac Sopoaga, defensive tackles; Donte Whitner, safety; and Ahmad Brooks, linebacker.
The Advocate reports that sports fan Sean Chapin and his Change.org petition may have helped influence the Niners. Chapin has successfully petitioned the San Francisco Giants baseball team to make a video for the "It Gets Better" Project.
“This is a proud day for San Francisco, as two of our professional teams have taken a bold stand against bullying,” Chapin said in a press release. “Let’s hope this is only the beginning, and that more NFL and professional sports teams around the country take this opportunity to speak up on behalf of LGBT fans and kids.”
