Carl Nassib makes history as first openly gay player in regular-season NFL game

Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib became the first openly gay athlete to compete in an NFL regular-season game on Monday night. 

In overtime of his team’s regular-season opener against the Baltimore Ravens, Nassib made a key strip-sack fumble on Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson to give Las Vegas possession.

Two plays later, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr hit wide receiver Zay Jones for the game-winning score, beating Baltimore 33 to 27 in their home opener.
