Adam Rippon is having the best year ever. Not only is he the first openly gay athlete ever to take home a medal from the Winter Olympics, but he also just won Dancing with the Stars.
This marks the first time in the show’s 26 seasons that a gay person has won the competition.
It’s also the first win for his dance partner Jenna Johnson reports LGBTQ Nation.
This micro-season showcased the talents of athletic stars which through the process of elimination ended up with a dance-off between Rippon and Johnson, NFL player Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess and figure skater Tonya Harding with Sasha Farber.
