The popular nightspots transformed their outdoor areas to be able to serve customers outdoors during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the lifting of the State of California's "Stay at Home Order" that went into effect in early December 2020, a number of LGBT nightlife venues have re-opened with modificiations, providing space for the community to get out of the house and eat and drink.
Two of the largest LGBT bars, Rich's and Flicks, are on the same block and both have announced plans to re-open this weekend.
Flicks will re-open today at 4 pm, and have live DJs and drag shows throughout the weekend. Flicks hours will be Monday-Friday 4-10 pm, Saturday 3-10 pm, and Sunday 10 am to 10 pm.
The Rich's Day Lounge re-opens Friday at 5 pm, and will include a number of special events throughout the weekend to celebrate Presidents Day, Valentine's Day, and Mardi Gras, which all converge over the next 5 days. Rich's regular hours will be Fridays 5-11 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 2-11 pm. This week, the Day Lounge will also be open Monday, Feb. 15 from 2-9 pm for Presidents Day, and Tuesday, Feb. 16 from 6-11 pm for Mardi Gras.
Both venues require masks and temperature checks upon entry, and a food purchase is requried to drink alcohol. Parties must remain at their table except when using the restroom or exiting, and the venues have put a lot of other precautions in place to keep guests and staff safe. Those who visit any dining venue should be prepared to follow the venue's safety rules and stay home if feeling sick.
Reservations are highly suggested for both venues since space is limited.
