With restaurants and some bars beginning to re-open for in person service, safety is key!
Memorial Day weekend has come and gone - and it sure was like none we've ever experienced before. This year's summer kick-off didn't include any big parties, traveling was only for essential purposes, and the beaches were only open for activities like walking, jogging and swimming. San Diegans, however, have done a fairly good at following guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and as such, more and more businesses and public spaces are opening back up.
This week, we will highlight a few businesses that have re-opened while sharing some other virtual opportunties who aren't quite ready to step out.
Mo's Universe is all systems go!
The five restaurants that make up the Mo's Universe Group (Urban Mo's, Baja Betty's, Gossip Grill, Hillcrest Brewing Company, and insideOUT) have all re-opened as of today. While the company promises to maintain its high quality food, drinks, and services, they are operating safely and the pre-COVID party-type experience most are used to experiencing in these venues is on hold. But don't let this hold you back from visiting - all who are able and feel comfortable doing so are encouraged to support the local businesses that have given so much to us over the years!
Each of the restaurants has temporarily modified their operating hours and menus and have a list of guidelines to make sure everyone stays safe so be sure to check-out the webpage or social media of the establishment you wish to visit before heading over. Also, come with an appetite as a food purchase is required to be in each of the venues, whether or not you plan to order alcohol.
San Diego Eagle re-opens today
You heard that right, the San Diego Eagle, San Diego's only leather bar, is re-opening today! The bar has been granted approval to re-open with a number of safety guidelines and the service of food. The bar will be serving pizza for $2.50 a slice as well as a number of other food items available for purchase from Top Hat Catering.
The venue has been approved for a maximum capacity of 30 people so arrive early if you want to get in without a wait. More information is on available on the San Diego Eagle's Facebook page.
Martinis Above Fourth Table + Stage is ready to serve and entertain you!
Martinis Above Fourth has also announced that they plan to re-open on Thursday, May 28 for food and drink service AND entertainment. The popular restaurant and entertainment venue will open at 5 pm tomorrow, with no cover entertainment by the legendary Carol Curtis starting at 6 pm. Like all other venues that are re-opening, there will be a number of safety guidelines in place and the purchase of food is required.
Additional no cover entertainment is scheduled including The Janice Edwards Trio on Friday from 6-9 pm, Irving Flores with Anais Lund on Saturday from 6-9 pm, Don L. on Sunday from 6-9 pm, and Andy & Nathan on Monday from 6-9 pm. It will be fantastic to see our favorite local entertainers live on stage again (all of the virtual concerts have been wonderful but nothing beats music live in person!).
Red Dress Party San Diego's annual Launch Party goes virtual
Think Red Project will kick-off this year’s Red Dress Party San Diego (RDPSD) season with the annual RDPSD Launch Party on Saturday, May 30, at 1 pm - this year taking place on Facebook and YouTube Live. The launch party will be held online this year due to stay-at-home orders currently in place, but all sorts of fun performances and surprises are in store.
Viewers will get the chance to hear what this year's "main event" will look like, see a mixology demonstration by Moe Girton of insideOUT and Gossip Grill, see some live entertainment, and hear how the annual HIV/AIDS fundraisers impacts its beneficiaries. This is the "not to be missed" virtual event of the weekend!
