The Oscar contender made a joke, but people are curious if he was serious or not.
Although his movie performances are getting a lot of attention, Adam Driver seemed to question whether or not a role in his latest appearance on Saturday Night Live was transphobic or not.
During his opening monologue, Driver went long and he said it was for a good reason.
The Marriage Story star said he was purposely stretching his time so that a questionable skit at the end of the show might be axed.
The audience laughed, but now people are wondering if it was true and what was so terrible that he had to resort to such a tactic.
There has been no official word from NBC about the accusation, but musical guest Halsey did close out the show which doesn't follow the normal package.
Driver seems to be stalling a little bit in the monologue and then mugs for the camera.
At about the 3:52 mark Driver says:
“I’m just trying to drag this out because honestly at the end of the show, there’s a sketch I really don’t like, so I’m hoping this goes long and it’ll get cut,” he says. “I play a woman in it, and I can’t tell if it’s transphobic or just really dated.”
The crowd laughed, but now people are curious whether or not the actor was being serious or not.
