Those rumors about a gay Marvel superhero were confirmed by filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo on EW Morning Livethe only thing is they aren't saying who.

What they will say is that the character will be included in an upcoming film, saying fans won't be surprised once he, or she, is revealed.

The subject was discussed when the conversation turned to Joe Russo's cameo in "Endgame," where he plays a grieving gay man in therapy session discussing the loss of his male partner after the Thanos snap.

This evolution of inclusivity is what the filmmakers love most about upcoming projects.

“That’s the thing I think we’re the most proud of with the Marvel Universe, moving forward, is how inclusive it is,” Joe told EW in a past interview. “You know, Anth and I feel representation is very important to us. We wanted to include a gay character before we were done with these films. We also wanted to do it in a way that felt normalized, didn’t feel like we’re making a big deal out of it. We wanted to make sure that it felt organic and —”

“Natural,” Anthony added.

As for the small therapy scene in "Endgame," Joe says it is an extremely important step in the tight direction.

“It was an integral scene to show how the world was reacting to what happened in at the end of Infinity War,” Joe said.

The host asked if the cameo showcased the first truly out character in a Marvel film.

“Yes, openly gay,” Joe emphasized. “There’ve been insinuations about other characters’ sexuality, but this is the first openly gay character.”

Shaw dug further and asked, “Who else is gay?”

“Uhhh,” Joe said, “We’re gonna find out!”

“That’s a story for another day,” Anthony added.

Talks of a gay character in a Marvel film have long circulated. But it was last summer when studio President Kevin Feige confirmed the rumors, saying, "Both ones you’ve seen and ones you haven’t seen.”

Whether or not Joe's cameo qualifies as one we hadn't seen, there is still the question of who will come out in the regular group. Either way, it's happening said Joe.

“There is a gay character coming up in one of their films, and I think Kevin [Feige] will make that announcement, I’m sure pretty soon,” he said.
