The internet star is coming to America's Finest City
With his awesome online musical parodies and salient political humor, it seems you're never too far from the LGBT force that is Randy Rainbow.
The comedian and actor is stepping out of your computer and into San Diego for an evening of live entertainment this spring.
Randy got his start as a blog artist, making videos and skits for fans in which he used a soundboard to simulate phone conversations with infamous celebrity headline makers. One of his earliest featured a mock phone conversation with an irate Mel Gibson after his telephone tirade against then-wife Oksana.
Future skits would include Lindsay Lohan, Dr. Laura, and Kanye West. His followers grew by the thousands, making him an internet star and respected political satirist.
But Randy's pot of gold came during the 2016 presidential campaign when he mined everything he could from the often questionable antics of Donald Trump. Activist Dan Savage called him “the best thing to come from the GOP race.”
From there, the clickable videos evolved into clips of network news interviews in which Randy edits himself into them as if they were his own.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Randy comes from an entertainment background, his father was a musician and talent booker, but it was his grandmother who inspired him to do his particular brand of humor as she would often talk back to the television herself as if the people on the other end could hear her.
His talent for writing music and lyrics that resemble Broadway showstoppers is what he's known for now. That gift has been recognized by the Broadway, cabaret and gay communities and he's often asked to appear as a guest on television and satellite radio.
Truly talented and born to be on Broadway in some capacity, Randy is stepping out of the world wide web and into the real one in 2019.
He will be coming to San Diego on March 16 for his live show in which he promises to "cut the sh*t."
Randy Rainbow Live is on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the Balboa Theatre.
