The ice cream makers would like you to pronounce the flavor as "PEE-can."
Famous ice cream makers Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield aren't freezing in their tracks during the Trump administration, in fact, they are using his policies on civil rights against him in a flavor they are calling "Pecan Resist" (which is really New York Super Fudge Chunk).
Ben & Jerry's unveiled the new flavor in Washington D.C. on Tuesday morning reports the Washington Blade.
The idea behind the ice cream was to include everyone who feels oppressed by the current administration.
"Welcome to the resistance. Together, Pecan Resist!" they write on the website.
"We honor & stand with women, immigrants, people of color, & the millions of activists and allies who are courageously resisting the President's attack on our values, humanity, & environment. We celebrate the diversity of our glorious nation & raise our spoons in solidarity for all Americans. Take a stand & join those on the front lines at benjerry.com/pecanresist."
Some of the proceeds will go to Honor the Earth, Women’s March, Color of Change and Neta.
Favianna Rodriguez designed the artwork for the limited flavor which contains chocolate ice cream with white and dark fudge chunks, pecans, walnuts, and fudge-covered almonds.
Ben & Jerry’s said in a statement, “The company cannot be silent in the face of President Trump’s policies that attack and attempt to roll back decades of progress on racial and gender equity, climate change, LGBTQ rights, and refugee and immigrant rights – all issues that have been at the core of the company’s social mission for 40 years.”
