Free admission to these San Diego museums on Saturday

Saturday, September 22 is Museum Day and to celebrate some San Diego museums are offering free admission.

San Diego is not only known for its pristine beaches but also its many museums. Saturday, September 22 is Museum Day and to celebrate they are offering free admission. 

Almost 1,500 museums across the country will participate in Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day, offering anyone with valid tickets entry into one museum cost-free. 

In San Diego, the following museums will participate:

Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum

Timken Museum Of Art

San Diego History Center

Museum of Photographic Arts

San Diego Automotive Museum

San Diego Air & Space Museum

Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego — Downtown location

The Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House

San Diego Chinese Historical Museum

Creation & Earth History Museum

Heritage of the Americas Museum

Barona Cultural Center & Museum

San Diego Archaeological Center

EcoVivarium

Museum of Making Music

Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum

California Surf Museum

You will have to go to the Smithsonian magazine’s website in order to get tickets; two will be provided and they can only be downloaded until 3 pm on September 22. 

Only two tickets per email address are allowed. “Choose wisely! There are no takebacks,” Smithsonian magazine’s website cautions.

Some museums will require you to present a printout of the tickets, those places will be identified by an asterisk under its address "*Printed ticket required.”
