Although the president hsn't recognized Pride month, this grandma is keeping its spirit alive.
A Virginia woman and her grandmother have warmed the hearts of social media subscribers everywhere with a single photo.
It seems simple enough, in the picture an elderly woman is doing some housekeeping ironing out the laundry. But that’s no dress shirt or pair of wrinkled slacks she’s pressing, it’s a bisexual Pride flag, and her granddaughter Lexi was not going to let the moment pass without capturing it.
“I got up this morning to get ready for #DCPride,” she wrote in the caption. “My grandma walked into my room, looked at my bi flag, and said, ‘Oh, this needs to be pressed out!’ Such a simple gesture, but it holds so much love and meaning for me.”
She posted the photo on Twitter and there it started racking up the likes and retweets.
Once viral, Lexi updated her feed with a few more posts, one explaining how scared she was to come out to her grandmother and then another; a selfie with her and her grandmother.
“Here’s another picture of my grandma because I want the world to see how beautiful she is! Show her some love! Happy pride y’all,” she wrote.
This just goes to prove what we have known all along: Love is love.
