Here is everything worth doing in the neighborhood this weekend.
It's another great week to get out into the neighborhood and see what's going on. Jinx Mirage is taking you step-by-step through all the events, entertainment and happenings taking place this week in "Out & About."
"Good Morning San Diego! I hope you guys are enjoying this week of perfect SoCal weather, 'cause I know I am. This week we have comics, fundraising, and the SUPER BOWL. So let’s get to it!!!"
Can We Talk?
This week Out & About kicks off with Joe Posa as Joan Rivers in "The Bitch is Back" at Martinis Above Fourth. Jinx says if anyone is a big Joan Rivers fan,"This is the show for you. It is a great comedy night!" Posa is joined by Tony Tripoli as he recalls some of his best anecdotes with the comedian. Posa then embodies Rivers for a funny and heart-warming tribute.
Gorgeous Gridiron Guys!
With the Super Bowl just around the corner, Jocks & Shoulder Pads at Flicks is the perfect party. With musical guests DJ Taj and Epiphany including loads of go-go boys and prizes, "You don't want to miss this event, you definitely don't want to miss the action!" says Jinx.
Tech-house and techno
Techniche at Rich's celebrates year two of tech-house and techno, with special guest Barbuto (Tronic-Austin, TX). Featuring Residents MYXZLPLIX and John Vilotti.
Top of The Bay
Get your weekend started right with the number one pre-weekend social event in the neighborhood: SDPIX Presents Top of the Bay at the Porto Vista Hotel. As always, the rooftop at The Porto Vista Hotel is the best place to mingle with friends in preparation for a weekend of fun.
PAWS, and Give!
"For all my dog and cat lovers, Bill Willis presents, Woof Fundraiser at the San Diego Eagle for two nights." Jinx says to be sure to stop on by for this great cause, "There will be raffle items, jello shots, and an auction."
Free Tapas and Pizza!
"Hillcrest are you ready for some Super Bowl LII at Flicks honey?! This Sunday Flicks will be giving it all away at this Superbowl party with free pizza and tapas at halftime and karaoke after the game." Jinx says to come out for the food and watch the game on a 90" television, "because we all know bigger is better," he says. "I went to the Superbowl last year at Flicks and let me tell you Miss Thing, that food spread was everything honey!"
Four Years of Stripper Circus!
There is nothing more you could ask for at Stripper Circus at Rich's! Every Sunday doors will open at 8 pm with no cover, 15 hot go-go boys from LA, Vegas & San Diego and the all-new strip down!
How Now Miss Brown?
The Tammie Brown Show at Martinis Above Fourth brings the quirky comedian to Martinis for the first time," With her sing-a-long performance that will be rattling through your head the entire night," says Jinx, "I am a huuuge fan of Planet Tammie Brown okay? So to see her actually come out. So to see her actually come out and do stand-up and music this is definitely something for anyone who is a Drag Race fan and a huge fan of 'Take me to Mars!'"
Jinx's Shout Outs and Final Thoughts
I'm going to give a special shout-out in the column this week to Paul Gunn and his new event Trick at The Merrow this weekend. It has definitely brought me back to the underground parties in Miami and it had something very interesting; it had a free clothes check. So for those who were not shy and wanted to strut in their jock straps and their leather and everything it was an amazing party.
DJ Mateo played an amazing mix of circuit and house music. This is a new event for Hillcrest and it is definitely something I'm looking forward to in the future. I've heard the next one is not even going to be until March so if you missed this one, you got your time to go out and get your harness, jock strap, go out and get whatever you want to wear and turn the party out. The party was absolutely awesome! It was like, raw and seedy and just men being men and just Rawwwr!
Hope you all have an awesome week, catch some rays and may your team win the super bowl. I’m Jinx Mirage and you stay fabulous San Diego
