The "Fab 5 are back and helping straight men everywhere.
The trailer for the reboot of style makeover show, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy is finally here.
It’s been 15 years since the first Queer Eye premiered on Bravo. Until that time the word “queer” was being reclaimed and only used by gay people in social circles and pride events.
The juxtaposition of that word and “straight” in the show’s title was intriguing because we all wondered what would happen if five gay men helped stereotypical fashion unconscious straight men in categories including fashion, skin care, and diet.
The result was tolerance in which the word “meterosexual” was born.
This Netflix reboot premiering on Feb. 7 doesn’t change much from the original formula except now instead of fighting for tolerance they seek acceptance according to the voiceover.
Jai Rodriguez, Ted Allen, Kyan Douglas, Tom Filicia, and Carson Kressley were the original “Fab 5.”
The new crew is Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, and Tan France.
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy premieres on Netflix, February 7.
