“When you croak of AIDS (Anally Injected Death Serum) I’ll spit on your grave!”

These were the words of Echo City, Oregon councilmember Lou Nakapalau who had it out with director Joe Wilson on Facebook for Wilson’s documentary about a trans woman in Hawaii, Kumu Hina.

Nakapalau didn’t like the online discussion when it turned toward trans workers wanting anti-discrimination protections, he said he was “sick of the LGBTQ crowd shoving their keyed up agenda down my throat.”

He soon posted the now deleted AIDS comment above, but refused to apologize even at the behest of the City Council.

The council released a statement of their own.

“The Echo City Council would like to extend its sincerest apology to those who were offended by comments made by a council member in a Facebook dialog reported by the East Oregonian,” the statement reads. “Comments of individual council members on their personal social media accounts do not have any endorsement or approval of the council as a whole nor do they represent city policy.”

New Now Next reports that Nakapalau sat silently at the meeting as people came forward to condemn his comments.

“I’m absolutely disgusted,” said one woman, “and I think any self-respecting council would throw him off."
