Hello San Diego, it's your Hillcrest Socialite bringing you everything you need to know about this weekend in the Crest. Now usually this column is filled with party after party.

But this weekend we are gunna touch your more cultural side. You know? When gays were known for only theater, art gallery openings, Interior design and impeccable fashion sense.

I mean we still are, but now our hetero comrades know us for our fabulous party side, to which they dream to be a part of. And having a gay best friend has become a FAD not only for women but also straight men, this weekend will let you get back in touch with your cultural side.

But seeing that's neither here nor there. Let's kick this week's column off with Shoshana Bean and some local queens making their comedy debut.

The Song Bird and the Comics

Thursday kicks off at Martinis Above Fourth, bringing you another stellar songbird Shoshana  Bean, who is an  American stage actress, singer, and songwriter and is known for her roles in Broadway musicals.

She is best known for being the first replacement actress for the role of Elphaba on Broadway in the musical Wicked.

After listening to a few of her tracks her style makes me think if Amy Winehouse and Aretha Franklin had a baby. This soulful goddess will take you on a journey through life with her beautiful raspy vocals.

See link for tickets and table reservations.

Those funny queens

The Comedians at #1 Fifth Avenue are back with a special edition comedy show this Thursday. "Drag Queen Takeover" with local drag queen stars Mariam T, Nadya Simone, Adonyss Alluzion and Michele Ada.

Along with your regular Comedians cast like you've never seen them before, all dressed up as drag queens and kings. With your headliner Keith Carey from "Comedy Central Roast Battle".

Come hang out with these local queens as they do stand up for the first time. Showtime at 9 pm, but I would suggest going getting there a little early to get a great seat.

For all my Dog Lovers

The Tom Homann San Diego LGBT Law Association is providing a free seminar on "Service Animals and Doggie Divorce."

This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have and really know your rights.

The presentation will be on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at The Center in Hillcrest (Library Room) located at 3909 Centre St, San Diego, CA 92103. Check-in will start at 5:45 pm, with the program commencing at 6 pm.

Break out your Knife and Fork

Because the "3rd Annual Taste of South Park" is here, It doesn't get much cuter, cooler or colorful than a day in South Park. Hallmarked by an eclectic band of restaurants, bars and pubs, coffee houses and family dining spots.

The 2017 Taste of South Park (ToSP) will take place on Saturday, September 16th, from 12 pm to 4 pm, located in the cozy, creative hamlet of South Park. With the purchase of a Tasting Passport, guests can sup and sip their way along the 30th St and Fern St corridor, sampling bites from all participating South Park brick-and-mortar eateries.

Are you the Last Martini Standing?

Come and see if you can be titled the "Last Martini Standing" a benefit for Mama's Kitchen this Saturday, September 16.

This fundraiser features 6 to 7 contests all fighting for the tittle of "Last Martini Standing". Come and sample these  delectable martinis and appetizers and vote for your favorites  provided by various local restaurants and volunteers.

All proceeds to benefit Mama’s Kitchen. The event will be held at the home of Adam Zweig and Demetrius Dela Cruz. With that said I would suggest getting your tickets early and entering the contest early as well. For more information see link above.

And you thought I was gunna leave you without a Party!

This Saturday Tristian Jaxx brings you another installment of "Overdrive" featuring the talents of Drew G and Paul Crowling at Spin Nightclub

Now I'm not as big of a circuit music fan as the next gay, but there is just something about a Musical Journey with Drew G that I just simply love. If you haven't been to an Overdrive at Spin, you definitely need to go.

If you have been to an Overdrive at Spin, then I don't need to tell you that you need to go. Either way make sure you get YOU and your CHA-CHA HEELS down to Spin for September's Overdrive

Ready to go back to Hawaii?

Well if you have been to Hawaii or simple like the music, then you will definitely want to check out "Bobby Jo Valentine in Maybe Stars" An evening of songs and stories with Special Guest Randi Driscoll at Martinis Above Fourth Sunday September 17.

After listening to a few of his songs, he reminds me of a Polynesian Michael Bublé, with all the island joy and flavor mixed with a Rat Pack kinda of soul.

The poetic nature of his stories and songs has resulted in many notable awards and a growing, supportive, loyal following. Bobby seeks to write music that means something good, and speaks to the beautiful, sacred, terrifying, mesmerizing world that we live in.

Doors open at 5 pm, Showtime is at 7 pm

"The Hollywood Square" comes to Martinis Above Fourth

You may know him for his multiple cameos in sitcoms and television series, but did you know Bruce Vilanch also writes for many important yearly awards shows such as The Academy Awards, Tony Awards and People's Choice Awards?

He is bringing his special brand of comedy to Martinis Above Fourth this week for "Bruce Vilanch Uncensored." In this show, he will reminisce on everything from Whoopi to Hollywood Squares with a few dirty songs thrown in for good measure. Bruce is one of the most sought after comedy writers in the business and you can see him live when he comes to Martinis Above Fourth for "Uncensored" on Tuesday, September 19 at 8 pm.

Well that's it for me this week, I hope you guys enjoy as much as I enjoy writing you guys. And if the Evans I spoke about aren't for you please see the list below. I'm Jinx Mirage and "Don't forget to fall in love with yourself first" -Carrie Bradshaw.
