Popular cosplayer under fire for her "Unite the Right" participation

Racism, anti-Semitism, and homophobia through white supremacy movements infiltrate society even in popular culture.

Take for instance Alisa Norris (aka Alisa Kiss), a well-known cosplayer who has shocked some of her fans because she attended the Charlottesville “Unite the Right” rally.

Norris’ portrayal of Supergirl seems to be the fan favorite, but she wasn’t embodying that hero’s credo as she stood with the neo-Nazis in Charlottesville.

Fans have shunned the costume artist for participating in the event, but Norris says she was there simply to protest the removal of a statue, she says she had no idea that the event would lead to violence and death.

She says she wasn’t at the march, but as everyone knows social media has a way of fishing out the truth and cosplay site “Bleeding Cool” found a video, not only with her in the march, but holding her partner, Jonathon Norris’ hand as he shouted white supremacist rhetoric.

Doubling-down on his beliefs and his reasons for being at the march, Jonathon Norris admits to it in a very colorful personal message who he accuses of inappropriate advances.

Since the news broke of Alisa’s participation on the “Unite the Right” march, the people behind her webpage alisakiss.com have made it go dark with this message as to why.

This site is now closed. All current members will be REFUNDED over the next week.

I have worked as the webmaster here for well over a decade, and known Alisa for far longer than that. I have always found her to be an upstanding and TOLERANT person in all my dealings with her, but I just cannot condone participation in that march. The whole thing is baffling, as if it was orchestrated, but it still was a choice. A choice to go there, and then a choice to stay there and march. So, I’m making a choice to quit and to denounce it. We are all responsible for our own choices in life.

I support everyone’s right to free speech, but to practice free speech means you must accept the consequences of that speech. Spreading hateful rhetoric, or supporting those who spout its poison, only serves to move people in the wrong direction.

Do not accept racism or anti-semitism of any kind. Nor identity politics. Nor Fascists OR Communists, either. We do not have to make choices between any of these systems of control. It is all abhorrent behavior.

Wake up EVERYONE and stop being pawns.
