Now I know most of you are probably spent and staying in this weekend (famous last words). But for those of you like me who always say, “no I’m going to stay in and rest up for pride” and then go out anyway, here is where I think you’ll have a nice, chill but fun weekend.

Miss Gay Pride

It’s that time of year “Miss Gay Pride” is here and the 2017 Miss Gay Pride will be crowned, Are you the one? Sunday, July 9th come witness greatness as 2010 winner Paris Sukomi Max hosts this year’s contest.

This event will also include an auction, raffle, and performances from past Miss Gay Pride Title Holders like Landa Plenty and Nadya Symone. Doors open at 5 pm and the contest is at 6 pm with a $10 cover.

Ok so let’s talk about the epic time I had this past weekend.

We kicked it off with a WTF party at Rich’s “Red, White and POO” and for anyone who has been to one, it was a night filled with WTF moments.

Which if you were following the SDPIX Snapchat account you would have witnessed the madness. Between the goats, chickens, pig and one guy who was walking around with his berries out: it was one for the books.

In true fashion Rich’s Nightclub and SDPIX pulled out all the stops with an array of club kids passing out juice boxes and bartenders making bagel bites & popcorn while slinging drinks. You missed out BIG if you didn’t make it, so make sure you make it to the next one.

Sunday was filled with mimosas, pool parties and hot tanned men running around in their best swimwear, also on the SDPIX Snapchat account, I might add.

I took some friends with me to the Lafayette Hotel for LE Parties HEAT & Independence Pool Party.

Which was all kinds of dope, the weather was the best we had all weekend. Sunny but cool with a chance of no clouds.

John Joseph brought the summer beats as he always does. But was accompanied this time with Las Vegas Beat Queen Brynn Taylor.

Who was making me feel all kinds of things with her mix of house, trap and techno beat?

Let’s just say I’ll be taking myself to Vegas to check her out. Oh, and for those who did attend the pool party. FYI the giant island floats only hold 17 people before you bust out the center. Just saying and it’s not like I know.

Well anyway, Monday night we checked out House Nation with Promoter and DJ Kyle Kayden and special guest Richard “Humpty” Vission. Simply an amazing night.

For true house music lovers, if you haven’t checked it out, you are missing out for sure.

Not since Souleil came to Hillcrest has a house music night taken me on such a journey through music.

The addition of the live saxophone player brought the crowd to ecstasy. Giving us all the soulful beats to feed our house musical souls.  I had to talk to the creator of House Nation Kyle Kayden; I wanted to know what made him bring this event to life.

He enlightened me, “House Nation was Inspired by my love for 'True House Music' I have been in love with house music since I can remember.

"And the art of real house music has been lost…so I am here to bring that vibe back. In my opinion, there is no greater feeling than house music. It takes you on a journey of love that you feel deep in your soul. No music can match that.”

Which I totally agree with, but why Rich’s?

Kyle told me “Rich’s is a venue staple in San Diego. Its notoriety within the house music realm is synonymous in Southern California. When I thought up House Nation, there was only one venue that came to mind. The crowd and energy level cannot be duplicated anywhere in San Diego.

"The love of music cannot be duplicated and the love itself cannot be.

"From the managers Ryan and Leonela and the sound engineer AJ to all the staff. It was only one choice. RICH’s was the place to go. I’m glad it worked!’’

And I’m sure glad too, House Nation is the first Monday of every month at Rich’s. Make sure you look out for the next one.

Well, that’s it for me this week, hope you guys enjoyed.
